BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan — Alpha Institute of Technology (AIT) is proud to announce that Yaroslav Kulakov, a second-year Master’s student in Mechatronics and Robotics, has successfully completed a research internship at KOPEL — the Power Electronics Laboratory at Konkuk University in Seoul, South Korea. The internship took place in July and August 2026.
During his internship, Yaroslav conducted research on the topic “A Modulated Model Predictive Control of UPS System.” His work involved the modeling and control of uninterruptible power supply systems, contributing to ongoing research in power electronics and advanced control methods.
Beyond his primary placement, Yaroslav also visited and gained exposure to the working environments of several leading laboratories in Korea, including:
- KUPEL — Power Electronics Laboratory, Korea University
- EECSL — Electrical Energy Conversion System Laboratory, Korea University
- AWEAR Lab — AI-based Wearable Robotics Laboratory, GIST
The internship provided hands-on experience in an international research environment and strengthened Yaroslav’s skills in power electronics, control systems, and applied engineering — areas central to AIT’s academic focus.
“I deepened my theoretical knowledge and gained practical experience in soldering, controller coefficient tuning, testing power components, and modeling electrical circuits,” said Yaroslav Kulakov.
The opportunity was made possible through AIT’s extensive partner network, which connects students with leading universities and research institutions abroad. AIT continues to expand its international partnerships to provide students with research, internship, and career opportunities in Korea and beyond.
